Solar PV and Air Source Heat Pump on a Holiday Park

Our most recent collaboration with Wooda Farm Holiday Park in Bude, the holiday park brought us the task of designing and installing a 38 Solar panel array and Air Source Heat Pump.

Following a consultation, we created a design that met the owner’s needs. The shower block needed full self-sufficiency. The installed system showcases Solar PV and Air Source Heat Pumps, this combination makes for an ideal renewable system.

Air source heating and solar PV complement each other perfectly. Heat pumps operate at lower temperatures for longer durations, this provides a more comfortable living environment. It also avoids temperature peaks and troughs. Heat pumps can convert 1kW of electrical energy into 3-4kW of heat energy. By combining a heat pump with solar PV, you maximize the free energy generated on the roof. This reduces overall heating running costs even further.

System Design

The system features a black-framed 32 solar panel array. It integrates seamlessly with a GSE In-Roof Mounting System. This reduces the aesthetic impact on the slate-tiled roof. The array fits the roof space perfectly.

The project boasts a fantastic estimated payback period of just over 3 years. The Mitsubishi Ecodan Air Source Heat Pump plays a central role. It is coupled with an unvented hot water cylinder. This setup is connected to an underfloor heating system.

Included in the install:

38 x JA Solar 370W Mono All Black

1 x Solis 12kW 3ph

1 x GSE In-Roof

1 x Mitsubishi PUZ R32 11.2kW Ultra Quiet Air to Water Heat

1 x 200l Single Coil Unvented DHW Cylinder
