Sigenergy Solar & Battery Installation – Truro, Cornwall
Project Overview
We were approached by a homeowner in Truro, Cornwall who wanted to electrify their property, reduce grid dependence, and integrate solar, battery storage, and EV charging into a single, efficient system. The property is a two-storey pantile-roof home with both north- and south-facing roof aspects — giving us the opportunity to capture solar energy through the day from both sides.
Because our client was interested in the Sigenergy platform, this project became a flagship Sigenergy Truro Cornwall installation — combining their inverter, battery, and EV charger into one unified system that’s easy to manage.
Design & Installation
Roof layout & panel placement
We split the 18 panels between the north and south roof slopes. By doing this, we flattened the generation curve — rather than having a big peak at midday and a lull in the morning or evening, the system produces more evenly across the day. This helps with self-consumption, especially when paired with battery storage.
Mounting & structural work
Using a Schletter mounting system allowed us to securely attach the panels to the pantile roof, ensuring waterproof integrity and easy maintenance access. Our team performed full structural checks, flashings, and sealing to ensure longevity and safety.
Electrical & system integration
The core of the system is the Sigenergy SigenStor setup. We installed the 5 kW hybrid inverter, wired the 9.04 kWh battery modules, and integrated the Sigenergy EV charger into the same energy management system. All components communicate so that solar generation, battery storage, and EV charging are coordinated intelligently by the Sigenergy software.
We also ran cabling, installed monitoring hardware, and handled commissioning. After setup, we tested the system end-to-end, calibrated controls, and walked the homeowner through the Sigenergy app so they can monitor performance, battery charge cycles, and EV usage in real time.
Performance & Outcomes
| Metric | Estimate / Result |
|---|---|
| System size | 8.19 kWp (18 × 455 W) |
| Annual generation | ~6,500 kWh (estimate) |
| Self-consumption (with battery) | Up to ~80% |
| Annual bill saving | ~£1,100 |
| CO₂ avoided per year | > 2 tonnes (equivalent to planting ~300+ trees) |
Because we used both roof aspects and a battery, the homeowner sees a smoother energy flow, less export to the grid, and more usable solar energy stored for evening use. The EV charger means they can power their car with solar too — further reducing costs and carbon footprint.
