Mitsubishi Ecodan Air Source Heat Pump installation in Mylor Bridge, Cornwall
11.2kw Ultra Quiet Air to Water Heat Pump

This property recently underwent a major refurbishment, making it the ideal opportunity to install a renewable solution. By integrating an air source heat pump, the property embraces sustainability, significantly reduces energy bills, and lowers CO2 emissions.

Installation System Design

The installation included:

11.2kw Mitsubishi Ultra Quiet air to water Heat Pump

300l Unvented DHW cylinder

3 x Radiator Upgrades

The homeowners also had an Underfloor heating system fitted which provides even temperature distribution throughout the room.

Homeowners Feedback

At GreenGenUK we love to hear feedback from our customers and here are some kind words we would like to share with you from this project.

‘From day one to the completion day, Greengen has been 100% professional. Our engineer, Jack, and his apprentice, Archie, have delivered an A1 job. Their work ethic, tidiness, and general attitude have been second to none. We would recommend them 100%. Thank you both. They have dealt with both an 1800s house and a new extension. Nothing fazed them.’

What is an Air Source Heat Pump?

Air source heat pumps harness heat from the air to provide space heating and hot water. By upgrading the heat energy from the air, these systems can achieve over 400% efficiency.

How does it work?

First, the fan draws air through the outdoor unit and over a refrigerant-filled pipe circuit. The unit keeps the refrigerant gas cooler than the outside air, causing the air to warm as it passes over the gas. This heated refrigerant is then compressed, increasing its temperature even further. The hot refrigerant flows through a heat exchanger, distributing warmth to radiators or underfloor heating in the property. Additionally, the heat pump can heat a domestic hot water tank to almost 60 degrees Celsius.

Why install an Air Source Heat Pump?

An air source heat pump can produce over four times the energy it consumes, resulting in significant savings on energy bills and a substantial reduction in a home’s carbon emissions—by several tonnes annually. Homeowners using oil, LPG, or direct electric systems will experience the greatest financial and environmental benefits.

Heat pumps achieve optimal efficiency by providing heat consistently and frequently. Both air source and ground source heat pumps are designed to maintain a steady temperature in your building. This approach not only enhances the comfort of your home but also benefits the property by ensuring better and more efficient heating.

Air source heat pumps are designed to seamlessly integrate with a home’s existing central heating system. The external unit requires only a hot water cylinder inside, ensuring minimal disruption to your home.

What are the benefits of a Air Source Heat Pump?

  • Cut your energy bills & CO2 emissions
  • Low noise levels to meet permitted planning regulations
  • Eligible for £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme Voucher
  • A future proof heating solution, Heat pumps will soon become one of the primary sources of heating in the UK.
