The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) has recently been updated, bringing benefits to many homeowners and businesses. Ofgem has removed the mandatory requirement for cavity wall and loft insulation, making it easier than ever to qualify for the grant.
Now, you no longer need to make these insulation changes to be eligible for the £7,500 voucher. If you’re considering upgrading your heating system or complimenting your existing solar array with a heat pump, these Boiler Upgrade Scheme Updates make the grant more accessible than ever.
If insulation requirements previously stopped you from using the BUS, contact us today for an updated quote.
What does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme mean?
The BUS is great for anybody looking to replace their fossil fuel heating system with a renewable heat pump. The £7,500 grant is upfront and deducted from the amount you pay. Making the installation of air-source heat pumps more affordable than ever, with no repayment needed.
A typical air source heat pump installation from GreenGenUK could cost between £8,000 and £14,000. With the £7,500 BUS voucher, a large portion of the installation costs is subsidized, and in some cases covers almost all the costs. This additional funding makes heat pump installation costs similar to those of a traditional gas boiler.
