Accordingly, the air source heat pump now provides 100% of the property’s 16,165kWh space heating and hot water demand. Switching to renewable heating slashed the customer’s energy bills, as a result. Furthermore, they now benefit from Renewable Heat Incentive payments for the next 7 years.
This 8.5kW Mitsubishi Ecodan installation included:
– An 8.5kW Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump
– A 210 litre hot water cylinder
– Anti-vibration mounting feet
– 4 replacement radiators
Firstly, GreenGenUK undertook complete plumbing and electrical installations of the heat pump, in addition to the install of the hot water cylinder. Secondly, we undertook the alterations to the central heating system. Finally, we provided certification and commissioning of the air source heat pump.
Swapping their old boiler for an air source heat pump results in several key benefits to the customer.
Energy Savings – compared to their coal-fired boiler, the system is estimated to be £590 per year cheaper to run.
Renewable Heat Incentive – as MCS-approved contractors, all of GreenGen’s renewable heating installation are eligible for RHI payments. This 8.5kW Mitsubishi Ecodan is set to earn the customer yearly payment in excess of £735 for the next 7 years.
Carbon Reduction – air source heat pumps replace heat demand from harmful fossil fuels with clean energy from the air. As a result, this system provides annual carbon reductions of 3.58 tonnes.
Using the above figures, this 8.5k Mitsubishi Ecoodan installation provides a 10-year benefit of:
A 10-year system benefit of £14,400.
A 10-year carbon reduction of 35.8 tonnes.
An annual return on investment of 15%.
A system payback period within 5 years.
The RHI was initiated to encourage the uptake of renewable heating technologies and drive down UK carbon emissions.
The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive provides a financial incentive to customers installing a renewable heating system – such as an air source heat pump. Eligible customers receive deemed payments over a 7-year period.
This 8.5kW Mitsubishi Ecodan install is eligible for RHI payments. In fact, the domestic tariff increased between the time GreenGen provided our customer with a quotation and when the system was registered.
