Alongside the 3.84kW in-roof solar PV system we installed for our Rosudgeon-based customer, GreenGen were also enlisted to design and install an 8.5kW air source heat pump.
The customer saw the benefit of combining their solar PV system with this 8.5kW air source heat pump. The heat pump is able to harness and store the solar energy produced by the panels on the roof and use it to generate heating and hot water for the property. This increases the usage efficiency of their solar PV system and lowers the running cost of the 8.5kW air source heat pump.
The 8.5kW air source heat pump system we installed for the customer consisted of:
– Mitsubishi Ecodan PUHZ-W85VHA Air to Water Pump
– Mitsubishi 210I Twin-Coil Unvented Cylinder
– Anti-vibration Mounting Feet
In addition to the Feed-in Tariff payments the customer receives from their solar PV system, they will now also benefit from Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) payments on the renewable heat generated.
The RHI is paid quarterly to the customer over a period of seven years. The customer is paid a pre-determined amount for every kilowatt-hour of energy produced by their system. For more information on the RHI and how it could be benefit you, visit our ‘Renewable Heat Incentive’ page.
The expected benefits to the customer of this 8.5kW air source heat pump are as follows:
– Annual Renewable Heat Incentive payments of £844.
– Savings on their existing heating bills of £422.
The total annual benefit of this system to the customer is anticipated to be £1267.
This gives this 8.5kW air source heat pump a payback period of 5.9 years.
